Well, the dust has settled on the One Blue Sky project 2019. The children are finishing up their last week of school and the murals now live in each city: Biddeford, Maine and Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
In both murals, the children are talking to each other through broken boundaries. They are surrounded by messages painted by local schoolchildren for their new friends. The messages share the mission of the One Blue Sky project and that is of friendship and compassion. . We are all the same.
I would like to thank Laura Rodgers for the opportunity to witness a dream unfold and to help in any way I could throughout the process. Seeing the project come to life was a vision to witness and I am grateful and humbled to have been a part of the journey. I would like to also appreciate the creative and hardworking efforts of the following people: Tammy Ackerman of ENGINE in Biddeford, Maine. link: feedtheengine.org; Pat Perry, Mural artist, Patperry.net; Samantha Robison of APTart.org; Emad Rashidi, filmmaker, emadrashidi.com ; Jerry Friedman, founder and board chair of the Good Works foundation, whose funding made this project possible. Oh, and the silent, but helpful spouses out there… this is a shout out to you, Todd Rodgers.
